Free Photo Creator

Image Licensing

Every photograph on Free Photo Creator was taken by Nick Youngson (nyphotographic.com) and is owned by R M Media Ltd. You can add your own words to a photograph using our tools and then use the finished image for free, including for commercial purposes, under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license, provided the conditions below are met.

What the license permits

You may copy, redistribute, adapt, remix and build upon any image on this site, in any medium or format, including for commercial purposes, with no payment required, as long as the conditions below are met. This is a real, legally binding license, not just a courtesy.

What you need to do in return

Attribution

Credit the photographer as Nick Youngson - nyphotographic.com wherever you use the image, in a way that is reasonable for the medium you are using it in, and link to the license. On a web page, a visible credit line with a link back to FreePhotoCreator.com satisfies this. Every image on this site has a Copy Text button that gives you a ready-made credit line. A typical credit line looks like this:

Free Legal Advice by Nick Youngson CC BY-SA 3.0 FreePhotoCreator.com

In print, on video or on social media, where you cannot add a link, write the credit out in a place a reader will see it, for example: Photo: Nick Youngson, CC BY-SA 3.0, FreePhotoCreator.com.

ShareAlike

If you modify, adapt or build upon an image, you must distribute your version under this same license (CC BY-SA 3.0). Adding your own words to a photograph with our tools creates an adaptation, so the finished image is covered by this condition: you can use it freely, but you cannot lock it behind a more restrictive license.

Using an image as part of a larger work, such as an illustration in an article or on a web page, does not on its own mean that the whole article or page must carry the same license; the image itself stays under CC BY-SA 3.0. If you are unsure how this applies to your use, read the Creative Commons FAQ or take advice.

What happens if attribution is missing

The license to use an image is conditioned on attribution being given and maintained. If the attribution requirements are not met, no license is granted for that use, and the use is not authorized under Creative Commons or otherwise.

Attribution-free license

If you do not want to display the attribution, you can purchase a license without that requirement. The paid license is a 50 year license to display the image on a single web site without attribution. The full terms and the price are shown at the point of purchase.

The paid license covers display on one web site. Any other use of the image, for example in print or on social media, remains under the free Creative Commons license above and needs attribution.

What the license does not cover

The Creative Commons license covers the photographs. It does not give you rights in any third-party trademarks, logos or designs that appear in a photograph, or in the words you add. You are responsible for the words you add and for how you use the finished image.

Please do not use our images to make misleading or deceptive material, for example fake official signs, notices, certificates or documents, or anything unlawful, defamatory, hateful or abusive, and do not suggest that the photographer or R M Media Ltd endorses you or your use. Our website terms do not allow the tool to be used for these purposes.
